Million Paws Walk: Walk This May Starts Friday!

The countdown is on and we’re only days away. This Friday marks the start of Million Paws Walk: Walk this May!

We hope that dogs around Canberra are fluffing their coats while the humans are putting on their active wear to grab the lead and practice their socially distant walks for a good cause.

RSPCA ACT CEO Michelle Robertson looks forward to seeing Canberrans getting behind this virtual event throughout the month of May.

“Like so many other pet owners, I have derived much comfort from my pooches over the recent challenging months.

Unfortunately, not every animal in the ACT receives the care, love and affection our pets do. This is why this is event is so important – to help the abused, abandoned and neglected animals in the ACT community.”

Participants of Million Paws Walk: Walk This May can make a donation or fundraise throughout the month. All donations raised from online fundraising and merchandise sales will also support RSPCA’s work within the community.

Thanks to sponsorship from Hill’s, donations received on launch day Friday May 1 will be doubled.

“I hope to see the Canberra community walk together in the fight against animal cruelty. Million Paws Walk is one of our biggest annual fundraisers, and while we are saddened that we cannot host a physical event this year, we look forward to seeing our social channels filled with pictures of people walking their pets” says Ms Robertson.

RSPCA would like to remind everyone to make sure they continue to practise social distancing. The average size of a dog lead is conveniently 1.8m which is a pretty good indication of a safe distance between you and other people.

Canberrans interested in participating in Million Paws Walk: Walk This May can still sign up for the virtual event by heading to our website https://www.millionpawswalk.com.au/
