Governing Council

RSPCA is governed by a Council of nine elected members who preside over the organisation. Council meets regularly to review progress, determine strategic ways forward, develop policy and prepare input into national RSPCA policy and procedure. The Council is lead by the President. Council meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month to review the business of RSPCA with the CEO.

People who have been a member of RSPCA for more than one year at the time of the AGM are eligible to stand for Council election. AGMs are held in September each year.   Notifications of elections are published on this web site and in the local press.

President

Sue Gage

Sue was elected President of RSPCA ACT in 2004 and has been a member of Council in a variety of roles since the late 1970s. Sue has a passion for animal welfare as well as extensive experience having represented RSPCA at a number of forums, ethics committees and external advisory boards.

Sue also currently holds the position of Vice President of RSPCA Australia.

In her capacity as President, Sue presides over the RSPCA ACT Council, which comprises nine members. The Council meets regularly and reviews the overall strategy, financial position and policy development of RSPCA ACT.

Chief Executive Officer

Michael Linke

Michael was appointed RSPCA ACT CEO in 2005 following a long and successful career with the Australian Public Service and success as regional manager of Vision Australia, Australia's leading not for profit blindness agency.

Michael has significant leadership and management expertise, which he has combined with his passion for improving animal welfare. Michael also has strong marketing skills which he has put to good use improving the overall image and professionalism of RSPCA ACT.

Michael has represented RSPCA at a number of forums and external bodies, both in the ACT and NSW.  Michael holds a degree in Taxation Law from the University of New South Wales and is a trained accountant.
