RSPCA Dog Training School
RSPCA ACT Dog Training School classes are catered towards dogs and puppies of all different ages and abilities and are limited to 8 dogs per class to allow participants to receive more individual attention by our experienced instructors. Our aim is to give your dog the required skills to have a happy, well-adjusted life with their family, using positive reinforcement. Training focuses on manners, impulse control, how to sit, drop, how to walk nicely on lead and how to introduce dogs to each other in a safe manner.
Depending on the dynamics of the classes, there may not be on or off-lead play. It is critical for all dogs to have a good experience when learning to interact with each other and not have a negative experience that could impact their entire life. For this reason, the instructors will decide if playtime will occur during your class.
The duration of the classes is 1 hour. Classes run for 6 weeks. Class dates may change subject to the number of bookings. Once enrolment has been completed, a staff member will contact you to provide additional information regarding your booking.
Courses are $195 for the 6 week course (1 Orientation class and 5 Training classes). Dogs and puppies that have been adopted from RSPCA ACT receive a 10% discount.
Please see our Terms and Conditions here.
The Different Levels
Selecting the appropriate class for your pet is important in making sure that the class is catered towards their stage in life. Your puppy/dog's age is calculated as at the commencement of the class.
Orientation
All participants are required to attend a once off compulsory orientation. Here, you will meet your instructor, learn important information relating to your class and dog behaviour and receive your training equipment that you will utilise in class. This orientation session will commence on the first week of your classes at the Shelter, your dog does not attend this session.
