New Year, New Home: Adoption Price Reduction for Adult Cats & Dogs from Saturday!

Christmas is just days away and New Year is peeking at us from around the corner – while normally this is a time for celebration, for the animals in care at RSPCA ACT it can be a hard time. To help our lovely furry friends find forever homes, we’re reducing their adoption prices to $149.00!

From 22 – 31 December 2018, RSPCA ACT is decreasing their adoption prices to try and find our adult animals the homes they've always dreamed of. The $149.00 price includes their adoption, desexing, worming, microchipping, vaccinations AND a free starter kit including up to 3kg of food, collar and tag!

RSPCA ACT CEO Michelle Robertson believes summer holidays shouldn’t be ruled out as a time to adopt, “Despite what many people may believe, summer holidays and Christmas are a great time to add a fur-member to your family. Most people are on holidays so it gives the family plenty of time to bond with their new addition.”

RSPCA ACT often gets asked about animals being surrendered to the Shelter after being unwanted gifts but the reality is, this is very rare

Ms Robertson continued, “Pets are a wonderful addition to our lives but if you are contemplating adopting a pet as a gift, please make sure the person who is receiving it actually wants a pet. As much as you’d appreciate it, not everyone has the desire or ability to have one.

We’d recommend having the person be part of the adoption process to ensure the animal is the right fit for their lives. The important thing to remember is: It’s okay to give them a pet as a gift – but NEVER as a surprise!

A pet is for life so if you are looking to adopt please ensure that you’re committed to caring for a pet for their entire lives please ensure your financially, emotionally and physically up for the responsibility.”

All processes and checks for adoptions will remain the same to ensure ALL animals are homed with the right families.
