RSPCA ACT’s ‘Clear the Shelter’ saw 108 animals adopted during the national $29 adoption drive which took place over the weekend. By closing time on Saturday, 93% of adoptable animals at RSPCA ACT found their forever homes. Of all the animals ready for adoption, only 9 animals were not adopted.
One of the dogs who did not find her forever home, is Mitsy, who has been in our care for over 200 days. Mitsy is desperately looking for her perfect family and needs someone with plenty of backyard space and 6ft Colourbond fencing. Mitsy loves to play with tennis balls, and despite her size is quite the snuggler.
While so many animals found loving homes over the weekend, RSPCA ACT still has over 80 kittens in foster care who will become available for adoption over the coming weeks.
RSPCA ACT Chief Executive Officer, Michelle Robertson, stressed that great care was taken to find the perfect match for the available animals. “It has been a great outcome all round and we are thrilled that 108 animals found their RIGHT forever homes.
In addition, the promotion not only resulted in a record number of animals finding their forever homes, but also broke down some financial barriers for low income families for whom the usual adoption fees could be out of reach.”
We’d like to say a big thank you for all of the support from the Canberra community.
